“SUN OF MAY”

Sin lugar a dudas el llamado “Broche de la Banderita” ha sido otra de las piezas icónicas de Evita, sobre todo desde aquella famosa subasta realizada por @christie’s en Nueva York donde fue vendido en 900.000 dólares (992.500 contando con los impuestos).
La conductora televisiva Susana Giménez, pujó hasta último momento por la joya, sin conseguirla.

La cifra inicial para la pieza fue 80.000 /120.000 dólares estadounidenses y la suma escaló rápidamente.
Se dice que la pieza fue puesta a la venta por los herederos del comprador original, apellidado Salomón.
Otros dicen que fue adquirida por el sultán de Brunei, y también por un rico americano, total, puras quimeras.

La primera dama argentina utilizó este broche en eventos políticos como en la sesión de juramento a la Constitución proclamada por Perón en el Congreso, en marzo de l949.

El broche según la casa de subastas no proviene directamente
de los herederos de Eva Perón, sino de una persona que lo habría adquirido en una de las subastas públicas realizadas luego
del golpe de Estado de 1955.

En los dos catálogos que poseo no aparece imagen del broche, lo cual es extraño, tratándose de una pieza tan emblemática.
Y en las descripciones que no tienen ilustración, ninguna describe la forma del mismo.

Si bien la joya fue firmada por Van Cleef & Arpels, y regalo de su amigo Alberto Dodero, fue diseñada y hasta quizás ejecutada por Oscar Heyman.
Esto es algo muy normal que una joyería encargue al taller de otra el realizarle alguna pieza, por carecer de tiempo para entregarla al cliente.

Oscar Heyman joyero americano de gran reputación, ha realizado numerosas banderas.

“Esta bandera argentina fue hecha para Eva Perón en la década de 1940 con zafiros invisibles engastados con baguette y diamantes redondos blancos y amarillos”.

Como vemos el broche representa la bandera argentina flameando, con tres hileras de zafiros carré en engaste invisible tanto en la banda superior como la inferior y tres hileras de brillantes en cuyo centro destaca el sol, realizado en brillantes canarios.
El mástil luce 6 diamantes baguette, alargados, un diamante triángulo en su base y culmina con un pequeño brillante.

Este no fue el único broche, tres más fueron hechos, uno para la madre de Eva y otros dos para cada una de sus hermanas.

Entonces, cual de los cuatro es el que se vendió?

Hace unos años atrás la actriz Victoria Vannucci, luce otro de los broches regalo de bodas de Matías Garfunkel.

Si bien el precio de salida fue superior, 300.000/500.000 dólares estadounidenses, el logrado no sería ni igual ni cercano al de la primera venta, 461.000 dólares estadounidenses, o sea vendido en la base sugerida por la casa de remates.

En fín todo esto es un análisis y se basa en diversas conjeturas, ya que la verdad suele ser bastante escurridiza.

“This Argentine flag was made for Eva Perón in the 1940s with invisible sapphires set with baguette and round white and yellow diamonds.”

As we can see, the brooch represents the Argentine flag-waving, with three rows of carré sapphires in an invisible setting on both the upper and lower bands and three rows of diamonds in the center of which the sun stands out, made in brilliant canaries.

The neck features 6 elongated baguette diamonds, a triangle diamond at its base, and culminates with a small brilliant.

This was not the only brooch, three more were made, one for Eva’s mother and another two for each of her sisters.

So, which of the four is the one that was sold?

A few years ago, actress Victoria Vannucci wore another of Matías Garfunkel’s wedding gift brooches.

Although the starting price was higher, 300,000/500,000 US dollars, the price achieved would not be equal to or close to that of the first sale, 461,000 US dollars, that is, sold on the basis suggested by the auction house.
